The Hillside Football Club (SHFC) – also known as the Sharks was formed in 1999 by a small group of parents and comprised of children and their families residing in the Sydenham, Hillside and surrounding areas.
Being one of the fastest growing areas in Melbourne, the club has become one of the largest, most prominent, and successful clubs in the EDFL.
With multiple premierships earned by the club in its short history, 2005 saw the introduction of senior football and the growth has been immense ever since. In 2017 we saw the introduction of female football and now have teams from U14YG to senior women. We have over 400 playing members with 25% of those being female.
All this is complemented by an impressive club facility in Hillside, including lighting towers to enable night games. Major extensions to the clubrooms were carried out in 2021 with car-parking extensions and further ground improvements.
The club has been blessed with a myriad of generous sponsors who have supported the Sharks from inception. Our major sponsors have been brilliant in their support for the Sharks and thus the local community. We need to continue to grow and provide the opportunity for players of all ages and genders to develop their football skills, to experience the benefits of teamwork and to widen their association with other residents in their own area -reinforcing a sense of community spirit. We trust this will be the strength of this club in the years to come.
