A big welcome to all our players, sponsors, supporters and volunteers for season 2015.If you are new to the Hillside Football Club, I trust you will have an enjoyable association with The Sharks.
The Hillside Football Club is one of the largest Clubs in the Essendon District Football League with success both on and off the field in season 2014. In October 2014, we announced our new Senior Coach, Steve Burns. Steve comes highly recommended and has already set high standards and expectations of the playing group for season 2015. Pre-season senior training was exceptional; with the highest number of players attending these sessions. There is definitely a ‘new spark’ with this playing group. I hope you will join me in welcoming Steve to the Club.
The club is committed to our ‘local’ players, and will endeavour to ensure our upcoming junior players make the transition to play senior football with The Sharks. Our Junior contingent is as strong as always, with multiple teams in each age group. We aim to teach and develop all junior players to ensure they enjoy the game whilst learning the required skills. Welcome to all of our junior coaches for season 2015 – we wish you success and enjoyment in your role.
The Committee has set some goals for season 2015 – including the installation of a large electronic scoreboard. This will enhance our current amenities and allow promotion of our dedicated sponsors. On that note, I would like to thank the continued support of our sponsors and hope that our members in turn support them. If you would like to become a sponsor of the club and gain the many benefits, please contact a committee member to discuss your options.
The Hillside Football Club has an outstanding affiliation with The Hillside Netball Club. The Netball Club has grown tremendously since its inception and I would like to wish them success in season 2015. The committee made some bold decisions throughout season 2014, which has ensured the financial success of the club. The committee will continue to govern the club to ensure long term sustainability and financial security.
Finally, we cannot afford to become complacent. We have great facilities, a fantastic Junior program, a developing Senior group and great committee, but we need to always be looking for opportunities for improvement. Continuous improvement and succession planning should be paramount in our thinking and in every decision we make, the overall goal of the Hillside Football Club should be considered.
I’m looking forward to 2015 being another fantastic year for everyone associated with the Hillside Football Club.
