DOF Report Practice match #1
Hillside Sharks v’s Caroline Springs
The smell of liniment just gets the blood flowing doesn’t it? Well that was the feeling at 5pm the other Thursday night when we finally got to have our first hit out. After a massive preseason that started back in early November and taken by our tough as nails strength and conditioning coach Scotty “Muscles” Jardine our boys were primed to hit the ground running.
Our ressie boys kicked the evening off in daylight with one end of Dempster Reserve resembling a lake. The yellow pill was like a cake of soap after about 20 minutes of play. Our boys started a little rusty however finished strongly to win comfortably. Considering it was our first run and Caroline Springs second game once we got into the game we handled the ball and our transitional play was very good. We dominated around the stoppages with plenty of ball being delivered into our forward 50 for Evan Bass and Brody Psaila. Nat Marazita may have found a new spot across half back and added his usual hardness around the contest. Dills did a great job in the ruck along with Fuzz, Mufti, and old man Neicho showed plenty of class pin pointing passes at will. That was a rubbish You Tube video you showed me after the game Anthony! Not sure what the final score was but we won! Izzy Akkok won no sympathy from the umpires with his constant umpire abuse…. Harden up Izzy!!!
Seniors Football Report
Very proud of this fact people. We had 14 players 20 years old and younger take to the field against Caroline Springs last night. Some notable players rested up such as big Moudy, Tommy Drake, Fossil Weightman, Liam Johnston, Riza Gashi to name a few… But let’s get back to our young guns…. Jordy Sinclair 18 year old outstanding at CHB, Jake “The Bont” Bertollo outstanding, Lachie Rayner until injured outstanding, Pete Mags 17 year old this kid is a freak, Beama wow taking big clunks with a wet pill, Stef brilliant, Tigga hard as a cats head, Tonks tough as nails, Jacko how lucky are we to have this jet playing for us, Skipper Vic had his first case of leather poising along with bro Jimma, big Monk was great all night especially when at CHF….. Blaise Ferraro was at his brutal best across half back with newly married Ed “Big Rig” Schellander doing very nicely down back in the second half. I think we will have a new award this year called the “Don’t Argue” award. Mo Taleb has a mortgage on it all ready. If Ed is “Big Rig” Mo surely has to be “Massive Rig”. Honourable mention to Troy Stone for organising the ground for us but more importantly punching on with Brian Lake and getting him sent off. Fancy an ex AFL player trying to rag doll our little man fish what a hero picking on a bloke who weighs 60kg’s ringing wet…. Good Troy… One of my all-time favourites David “Mad Man” Zammit made a welcome return destroying Caroline Springs gun full forward Matt Sutton. Zamo was at his “Golden Fist” best and at times he let go with some double Golden Fists… Great to see the #17 back out on the park.
Thanks everyone for coming down to have a look at the boys. In what can only be described as horrendous conditions the coaches were very pleased with our first up performance. I think we won by 3-4 goals in the end.
DOF Report Practice match #2
Hillside Sharks v’s East Keilor
Under 18 Football Report
Our new coach Charlie Mags made his debut and half way through the second quarter I reckon he thought he would be better lying under a car fixing a Diff getting an earn rather than watching what took place on ground. Any way some words were had and the boys performance improved in the second half to run out reasonably comfortable winners. The boys had a few out plus it was their first real hit out so plenty of upside. Special mention to Ethan Schuman, Oscar Brown and Jessie Madigan.
Reserves Football Report
The Yappa led ressies are playing some really good team orientated footy at the moment and they came out firing to finish off the seniors earlier work. According to the boys a reasonable scuffle broke out at ¼ time of the second game. Reasonable I think was an understatement. Whilst the seniors were locked away in the rooms de-briefing Liam Johnstone painted a bullseye target on his nose a sure enugh it got hit. Like most of us the big fella didn’t take kindly to the whack and went berserk…. Anyway things settled down and uor boys knuckled down to some hard work. Running out comfortable winners with EK still fielding many senior players. Izzy was running around trying to take hangers whilst brother Fuzz continued his white hot form picking up many high quality posessions. Old man Slim was silky as ever, Marazita knocked himself out AGAIN Happy Birthday to Mara for Saturday!! Hope you remembered it…. Many good players could almost name the entire team. Nice start by Daz and the boys
Seniors Football Report
A strange time to start for the senior boys. 1pm is when the umpy smashed the pill into the turf. This was due to East Keilor only having about 28 players available for both the seniors and reserves. Our boys got off to a flyer and we went into the first break ticking most of the boxes the coaches were looking for. After that the coaches box wasn’t a pleasant place to be. Our board man Luke Williams was a walking zombie after a trip to Albury for a cricket trip. 1 in all in Luke putrid performance by you. Tigga put his hand up to take a mortgage on the Golden Fist award, new boy Jordy Sinclair booted 5 snags in a powerful performance, Vic and Jim were at their brutal best and new recruit Andrew Papazoglou all the way from sunny Darwin showed plenty across half forward. “Massive Rig” Mo Taleb was at his don’t argue best playing very well until he head butted someones fist and was off with an unstoppable nose bled! Could be upto 10 changes for the next game as more players become available for selection.
Super Fools Report
With only 1 on the bench to start with our old boys found themselves down by about 20 points just after halftime. BUT a superior fitness base our old timers gathered up some real energy and come home with a wet sail to overrun the highly fancied St.Albans supers at Kings Park. And the result was more pleasing cause we ended up with no bench. Special mention to the new guys and their families who are playing with us and welcome to the sharks family. Some familiar names were at it again big Edo had plenty of goal kicking practice, his 2 mates Ray and Shaun Bannister ran a muck, MAxxy muscles, Dosy Boorman sugar Ray all played well.
